Valley Business Bank donates $1,000 to provide holiday cheer to the children and families of the Proteus Foster Family Agency

FRESNO, CA-  The Proteus Foster Family Agency hosted its annual holiday party on Tuesday, December 23, for the children and families of the agency. The party took place at Coney Island in Fresno. Approximately 80 participants attended. The event included lunch, play tokens, and gifts for the children.

Generous donations from local businesses like Valley Business Bank, who donated $1,000 to the Foster Family Agency, allowed the agency to provide an experience that many of these children have never enjoyed. “The party provided a needed distraction from the stresses of life for these children, even if for a short three hours,” states Gurpreet Brar, Director of the Foster Family Agency. “This is a great opportunity for the children to bond with their foster families and for the agency to acknowledge the foster parents who are giving the gift that even Santa cannot provide- a home.”

“Receiving the call that we were receiving a $1,000 donation from Valley Business Bank could not have come at a better time for Proteus’s Foster Family Agency. Special activities such as the annual holiday party, and other excursions for the children, are primarily funded through donations. Valley Business Bank is highly regarded in the banking industry, and this donation is a wonderful example of giving back to the community,” states Mike McCann, Proteus CEO.

The Proteus Foster Family Agency, a private, nonprofit, state-licensed foster family agency has provided stable, temporary out-of-home care to children since 1997. The agency certifies foster homes, matches children with foster families, and ensures all necessary support is given to the children, their foster parents, and their families. The agency also provides extensive training to foster parents to thoroughly equip caring individuals with the tools necessary to positively impact the lives of foster children.

Foster parents of the Proteus Foster Family Agency must be 21 years of age or older, can be married or single, work full-time, or stay at home. All foster parents must meet state licensing requirements to become certified. Excellent tax-exempt monetary compensation and medical coverage are provided to meet the needs of the child and family. All it takes is a compassionate heart, and a willingness to impact our community for the better.

For more information about how you can become a foster parent, call the agency at (559) 499-2535 or visit the Foster Family Agency page at
