Proteus, Inc. to help drought affected individuals with emergency services  

VISALIA, CA- Proteus, Inc. announced today receipt of a large grant funded by the Department of Community Services & Development (CSD) to provide emergency services to those individuals who have experienced financial hardship as a direct result of the drought. Services will be provided in Fresno, Kings, Kern, and Tulare Counties.

Experiencing a fifth consecutive year of drought has impacted the agriculture industry and farmworker families. The funding received from CSD will give much needed relief to these families who contribute so much to the Central Valley,” states Robert Alcazar, Proteus, Inc. CEO

The Drought Emergency Assistance Program (DEAP) provides emergency assistance such as rent, mortgage, utilities, food, and transportation to those migrant seasonal farmworkers and their families who have suffered unemployment or underemployment due to the drought. In order to qualify, employment must have been directly affected by the drought and income eligibility criteria must be met.

In addition, Proteus will be sending out the Proteus Mobile Employment Center (MEC) to rural community members who cannot easily access a Proteus office. A calendar of the Proteus MEC events will be made available at a later date.

Proteus, Inc Community Needs Forum

Proteus invites farm workers, community members, and organizations that serve the community to attend local forums to discuss needs.

VISALIA, CA- In an effort to encourage community feedback, Proteus, Inc. is inviting farm workers, community members, and organizations that serve the community to attend local forums to discuss and give their opinions on needed services for their families, neighborhoods, and communities.  Attendees will have the opportunity to give input on barriers the low-income community face that causes poverty and to assist in identifying programs that can address those barriers.  The forum results will be used as a guide to help Proteus bring new services to communities.    
“Community forums are designed to listen to the community and collect information on their perceived needs. The community’s input is very helpful as we plan programs for the future,” states Jesus Gamboa, Chief Operations Officer, Proteus, Inc.

Proteus Announces DACA Application Workshops

Proteus pleased to announce DACA workshops throughout Kern, Kings, Fresno, and Tulare Counties 

VISALIA, CA- Proteus, Inc., in partnership with Education and Leadership Foundation will be conducting workshops to inform the public in rural communities throughout the counties of Kern, Kings, Fresno, and Tulare about Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. The goal is to outreach at least 240 individuals and assist them in the DACA application process.

DACA is a memorandum passed on June 15, 2012 implemented by the Department of Homeland Security which allows individuals who meet criteria, and are 15 to 31 years of age, to be granted employment authorization for a period of two years. Individuals must demonstrate verifiable documentation that meets DACA guidelines to be considered for deferred action.

The workshops will take place in the following communities:

  • Delano Service Center, 1816 Cecil Ave., Delano on Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Dinuba Service Center, 400 W. Tulare St. Suite C., Dinuba on Saturday, August 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Hanford Service Center, 216 W. 7th St., Hanford on Saturday, August 31 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • San Joaquin Elementary, 8535 S. Ninth St. San Joaquin, on Saturday, September 14 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
